Album

Surf's Up is the 17th studio album by American rock band the Beach Boys, released August 30, 1971 on BrotherReprise. In the UK, Surf's Up peaked at number 15, continuing a string of top 40 records that had not abated since 1965. Sunflower is the 16th studio album by the American rock band the Beach Boys, released on August 31, 1970, and their first on Reprise Records. Despite receiving critical acclaim, the album sold poorly, reaching number 151 on US record charts during a four-week stay and becoming the lowest-charting Beach Boys album to that point. Add Some Music to Your Day was the only single that charted in the US, peaking at number 64. In the UK, the album peaked at number 29. The Beach Boys. SunflowerSurf's Up. Even aside from the music, pairing Sunflower and Surf's Up provides a fascinating glimpse of a band in search of its identity after several years of commercial shutouts and dwindling critical interest. On Sunflower, the Beach Boys merged their fondness for sun and sand with a growing sense of their own maturity the cover photo even features the group lounging in a park, playing with their children. The properly chunky 22-page booklet offers fans liner notes from Beach Boys authority TIMOTHY WHITE adapted from his acclaimed book The Nearest Far Away Place: Brian Wilson, The Beach Boys And The Southern California Experience. His song-by-song analysis and critique is both honest and affectionate and much of it peppered with Brian's 'selective' memories. The Beach Boys are so brilliant it's amazing they were ever considered a teenybopper group, but I think the kids knew better. Surf's Up 2011 Smile Version. Surf's Up is the 17th studio album by American rock band the Beach Boys, released in 1971. It was met with a warm critical reception and reached No. 29 on the US record charts, becoming their best-performing album in their home country since 1967. In the UK, the album peaked at No. 15, continuing a string of chart successes that had not abated since 1965. Both the album's title and cover artwork are an ironic, self-aware nod to the band's original surf music style. It was named for the closing track Surf's Up, a song which had been written and partially recor. Sunflower marked a fresh start for the band as they left Capitol and established their own label with Reprise, eager to capitalize on the arrangement and recapture an audience that had deserted them. Perhaps the strongest album they released post-Pet Sounds, the group dynamic no longer as Brian Wilson-focused reinvigorated the production and songwriting remarkably. The thematic and lyrical content is suitably eccentric and cheesy at times, but that element is as much a part of the work of the Beach Boys as musical innovation. Surf's Up.
