Bouncing off the Satellites is the fourth studio album by American new wave band the B-52's, released on September 8, 1986. It was recorded in July 1985 and was produced by Tony Mansfield. Founding member and guitarist Ricky Wilson died of AIDS after the album was completed, but several months prior to the album's release. With the band too distraught to tour, the album received minimal promotion and failed to yield any hit singles despite some radio stations initially giving a considerable amount of. Considering their loss, it's not surprising that the B-52's don't sound entirely focused throughout the record, and it's easy to forgive them for the momentary loss of direction. Still, that doesn't make listening to Bouncing Off the Satellites any more fun. Musically, it's a continuation of Whammy, with the group's signature sound being enhanced by drum machines, synths, and sessionmen. Bouncing Off The Satellites is probably the hardest to listen to B-52s album, but its nonetheless fascinating, occasionally brilliant, and unlike anything else the band ever did. On prior albums, The Bs had always struck a good balance between guitars and synthesizers. With guitarist Ricky Wilson dying of AIDS, and access to a then cutting-edge sampling keyboard called the Fairlight CMI, Bouncing Off The Satellites pushes the balance way in favor of synthesizers, including, most regrettably, synthesized drums. Its a dated sounding record for sure, but on most songs, the human emotion is. Complétez votre collection The B-52' jigsaw puzzles for free Home. Bouncing Off the Satellites, 2015. Talking about the B-52's everybody raves about Mesopotamia or has the yellow or red album as its fave. But this one has its moments too, listen to Theme for a Nude Beach or Communicate for instance, and there are allways those girlish candy sugar american voices to make you caramelised.
